About BobsDB

What is this thing?

It's like IMDB.com but for activities instead of movies.

Bob's Activity Database helps you find things to do. That's it. BobsDB is not a training exercise database so it does not contain workout specific activities.

It's open knowledge

Activities that will make you better, healthier or happier should be open knowledge.

It's collaborative and social

BobsDB is a collaborative effort like Wikipedia. Content is generated and curated by you and me. BobsDB is a meritocracy where only long term contributors with high scores will be elected to have the permissions to edit everyone else's activities.

What can I expect to find here?

You will find information about activities. Information is especially tailored for people who have not yet done the activity. With activities we mean everything from special interests to sports, jokes, avocations, plays, workout, R and R, amusements, enjoyment, entertainment, festivities, field day, fun, games, hobbies, holiday tips, leisure activities, pastime activities, escapades, picnic suggestions, pleasures, relaxations, relief, vacations and all other kinds of things you can do.

Who is it for?

It's for anyone who wants to find new things to do.

It is not for experts who want to find more detailed information about the activity he or she is already an expert of. If you have played the Violin for 10 years, you will not find any information here to help you become a better violinist. You might, however, find general information about starting to play the Violin, if it might be something for you and possibly where you might go to get lessons.

Why should I use it?

Because being active is a good for you, your family and the society. Being inactive or passive watching too much TV or playing too much video games can have a negative effect on your health [1],[2],[3],[4],[5].

Using activities in a group, as opposed to casual talk, can help to include everyone in the group. It can also help to get to know each other and make interaction more diversified.
